The Golden Glow of Christmas Past

Photo of House

Started with a simple idea, The Christmas Haus opened in June, 2002 as The Summer House Collection. The idea on which the store was founded is to offer quality merchandise, at a good value, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We found that "atmosphere" in New Oxford, PA in the form of an 1891 brick house and a charming town. The "quality" and "value" are traditions we have insisted upon since we opened our first store in 1992.

Black Forest Santa ornamentAt The Christmas Haus you will experience the authentic German Christmas experience. Our ornaments come from a family whose history in glass blowing goes back to the 1500s. The majority of the molds they use date from 1850-1895 and offer a classic look for your tree. You will also find German smokers, nutcrackers, pyramids and papier mâchè Belznickles, all made by individuals in small co-ops in Germany. "Our selection always changes and grows," says Lund. "Satisfying our customers is our primary goal, and we will not rest until we meet those needs."

Roger Lund, founder of Aunt Betty's General Store, Kensington and The Christmas Haus, New Oxford, is originally from Tonawanda, New York (located between Niagara Falls and Buffalo). For a time when Lund was a child, he lived with his Aunt Betty and Uncle Dewey. Aunt Betty's spirit of common sense, love of life, and simple pleasures influenced Lund. Subsequently, he honored Aunt Betty by naming his first store after her.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Lund managed other peoples' businesses for 13 years, an experience that prepared him to leap into business ventures of his own.
